Monster Reborn: from absolute ban to not-as-wanted-as-before

One of the best cards of all time, but losing importance

Monster Reborn, as you all know, does what it's name says: Revive any monster from any graveyard. This makes the card sound very broken, and it was banned for a long, long time. Everyone thought that it was going to be banned again in this format, but it stayed, together with Dark Hole. While Dark Hole can be sometimes situational, Monster Reborn is very useful at almost anytime of the duel. It's like a Swiss Army Knife:

Revives a big beatstick
Helps setup Synchros and Exceeds
Helps getting tribute food for Monarchs

Resuming: it's an absolute staple. But, it's importance is starting to go down, as most of the top archetypes can use their own strategies without Monster Reborn. Maybe that's the reason the card wasn't hit in this format.

Everyone expects it to go banned sooner or later, but for now, let's enjoy having two of the best cards of all time at our disposal: Monster Reborn and Dark Hole.

  1. It may be less important, but nothing can replace the epic of drawing it from Formula while you have no other cards in field or hand, and a Stardust in grave.
